Hanover V.F.D.
We are a rural volunteer fire department consisting of two stations responsible for providing fire and EMS protection for the villages of Hanover and Toboso, and Hanover and Perry townships. We are located in Licking County, in the State of Ohio. Hanover is about 7 miles east of the county seat, which is Newark. Newark is about 35 miles east of Columbus, which puts us almost in the center of the state.
Our territory covers approximately 50 square miles; 25 square miles in Hanover Twp. and 25 square miles in Perry twp. These townships are located in the far eastern section of Licking County. We serve a population of approximately 5,000-6,000 people, and this year expect to make in excess of 100 fire runs and 450 EMS runs. Our stations are located in the villages of Toboso and Hanover, and each are equipped with an engine/rescue, grass unit, and medic. Station 802 in Hanover village also houses a tanker. We are staffed by a highly-capable, and highly-trained group of men and women, with many working in the fire, EMS, or law-enforcement fields as their paid profession. We pride ourselves in our high standards of training. All members are required to hold at least an EMT-B and/or a Firefighter I certification level within the first year of membership. Most current members have already attained that status. To maintain preparedness, we train regularly with one EMS and two fire trainings each month, in addition to the mandatory Haz-Mat EMS and NIMS (National Incident Management System) training requirements that we must meet.
